Kids Fishing Clinics In Florida

As a Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing Captain I know that two of Florida’s greatest resources are it’s fishing and it’s children. Once again this year the Fisheries Management Division of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is putting on free Kids’ Fishing Clinics at various locations thru out Florida. This great program began in 1996 and through the years has brought together more then 52,000 kids and 10,000 volunteers to educate young anglers about fishing techniques, marine habitats, ethical angling, and conservation.
The clinics take about an hour to complete as the children go through 5 skills stations that teach them the basics of casting, knot tying, fishing tackle and being a good angler along with a touch tank where they can touch live marine animals. At the end of the clinics the children even get a free rod and reel set donated by local sponsors and at most clinics, a chance to fish and try out there new skills. The stations are interactive with hands on instruction that includes casting to hula-hoops, using oversized hooks and rope to learn basic fishing knots and lots of picture and props to keep the kids engaged .These are great events that are fun for every one involved. To learn more and to find out when and where the closest Kids Fishing Clinics will be to you visit Kids Fishing Clinics.
