New 40 Watt Equivalent LED Bulb Under $22

Earth Day 2011, Satellite Beach, Florida.

Lighting Science Group is marking Earth Day 2011 by selling a 40 watt equivalent A19 LED bulb on Amazon.com, for only $21.98. The new omnidirectional, 8.5 watt LED bulb is 75% more efficient than the typical incandescent bulbs and can last up to 23 years. It also sells for approximately half the price of GE’s Energy Smart A19 40 watt equivalent bulb.

These new LED bulbs provide unrivaled performance outshining other products by 25-30%. “Put one of our ultra-efficient bulbs in a lamp and don’t worry about changing it for many years to come–that’s convenience and energy savings that consumers can count on.” said LSG’s Rich Weinberg. “Lighting accounts for more than 18% of the average U.S. household’s energy bill–that’s because incandescent bulbs are essentially space heaters that give off a little bit of light. On Earth Day, say ‘no’ to high energy bills and ‘yes’ to protecting the environment and saving money by purchasing our LED bulbs,” added Weinberg.

To ensure performance and reliability, all of Lighting Science Group’s new LED bulbs were tested under the rigorous LM-79 process by an independent laboratory approved by the U.S. Department of Energy’s CALiPER program. Consumers will soon be able to buy a 60 watt equivalent version on Amazon.com as well.
