Town Hopes New Boat Ramp Brings Business

Residents and businesses of Leeville, LA are hoping a new boat ramp can bring visitors back to there community. In 2009, an aging bridge along LA1 was replaced with a new toll bridge that diverts traffic away from the marina, campgrounds, hotels, shipyards and restaurant that provide jobs for most of the towns residents. Residents are hoping a new boat ramp will attract visitors back to the community. If the boat ramp can be built, it will provide a free access point to some of the best saltwater fishing in the country. The Parish government has scaled back plans for the boat ramp after State Wildlife and Fisheries officials denied a previous grant that asked for too much money. The scaled back the plans ask for enough money to build only the ramp and a paved parking lot.
